- Hakim Danish starts from the front row for the first time and achieves his first top 10 in his fourth race in the World Championship.
- Ryusei Yamanaka adds two points after finishing 14th in a race interrupted by a red flag.
- MT KRE2 PLUS #BrazilianGP: MT Riders celebrated the World Championship’s return to Brazil with special designs.
The World Championship has returned to Brazil 22 years later to hold the second Grand Prix of the season at the Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna in Goiânia.
The first laps of the weekend took place in the rain, while on Saturday the schedule had to be delayed due to repair work on the asphalt after damage was detected on the track.
With this issue resolved, the second day delivered one of the standout moments of the weekend for AEON Credit MT Helmets – MSi. Hakim Danish set the third fastest time and secured his first front-row start.
It was not an easy feat, as the Malaysian rider had suffered a crash at the start of Q2, but thanks to the excellent work of the mechanics, the bike was repaired in record time.
The race was marked by a red flag on lap 15 following a multi-rider crash, forcing the event to be stopped and restarted for a five-lap sprint. In this new scenario, Hakim Danish managed to finish in tenth position, achieving his first top 10 in the World Championship.
Ryusei Yamanaka crossed the finish line in 14th position, allowing him to add two points to his tally in a challenging race for the Japanese rider.
The MT Riders will travel this week to the northern part of the continent to compete in the Grand Prix of the Americas in the United States, from March 27 to 29.
The Brazilian Grand Prix was also reflected in the MT Riders’ helmets, with two special designs on the MT KRE2 PLUS created for the occasion.
Hakim Danish opted for a proposal that combines his Malaysian roots with references to traditional batik, along with a palette inspired by the colors of the Brazilian flag.
In the case of Ryusei Yamanaka, the design maintains his usual visual identity, reinterpreted with green, yellow, and blue tones, also incorporating the Brazilian flag in place of the rising sun.
Two different proposals that share the same concept: blending cultures through design during one of the most special weekends of the calendar.
Statements
10th HAKIM DANISH
>> Moto3 MT Rider
“I want to thank everyone who supports me at every Grand Prix. The team did a great job, especially repairing the bike after the crash in qualifying. Achieving my first top 10 in the World Championship is an important step. Before the red flag I had a good start and was able to ride with the leading group, but after the restart it was more difficult to maintain that pace. Even so, I’m happy with the work throughout the weekend and I’m already focused on Austin to keep improving.”
14th RYUSEI YAMANAKA
>> Moto3 MT Rider
“I started from eighth position in a race with a very high pace, but I couldn’t stay in the group where I wanted to be because the tire degraded quite a lot. After the red flag we opted for a different compound that worked better and allowed me to have better feeling in the final laps. I managed to recover some positions and finish in 14th place.”
