- Hakim Danish matches his best result of the season after finishing 10th in France.
- Ryusei Yamanaka also scores points in a race marked by rain and low temperatures.
- Race Direction reduced the race to 13 laps, and up to eight riders retired due to crashes.
The World Championship competed this weekend in the French Grand Prix at Le Mans, the fifth round of the season following visits to Thailand, Brazil, the United States, and Spain.
After a completely dry Friday and Saturday, rain arrived on Sunday and completely transformed the race conditions. The low grip levels of the Le Mans asphalt and the cold temperatures added even more difficulty to an especially challenging day for the Moto3 riders.
Faced with conditions unseen throughout the rest of the weekend, Race Direction allowed the riders an additional ten minutes of track familiarization before taking their positions on the grid.
The race was shortened to 13 laps and was heavily affected by crashes, with up to eight retirements during the event. Under these circumstances, both AEON Credit MT Helmets-MSi riders managed to stay on track and score important points for the championship.
Hakim Danish once again proved competitive in difficult conditions and crossed the finish line in 10th position, matching his best result so far and securing his second top 10 finish of the season.
Meanwhile, Ryusei Yamanaka delivered a consistent race to finish 12th in what has been one of the most demanding weekends of the year so far.
After the French round, the MT Helmets riders will travel directly to Barcelona to compete this same week in the Catalan Grand Prix.
Statements
10th HAKIM DANISH
>> Moto3 MT Rider
“I made a good start and tried to stay with the leading group, but I knew that pushing too hard would greatly increase the risk of crashing. I tried to maintain my pace and position until the end. In dry conditions, I had felt very confident throughout the weekend, so I’m taking the positives and will keep working to arrive prepared for Catalunya.”
12th RYUSEI YAMANAKA
>> Moto3 MT Rider
“It was a difficult weekend, but in the end we managed to score several points in a very challenging race. I never fully found confidence with the tire, especially in these conditions, but we managed to finish the race.”
