MT Helmets-MSi has been crowned Moto2 World Champion at the Thailand Grand Prix with a double achievement: Ai Ogura secured the riders’ title and the team won the Teams’ World Championship.
The team’s ambitious sporting project for 2024 quickly delivered results. In February, the new MotoE and Moto2 projects were unveiled — joining the already established Moto3 — and just nine months later, the team claimed the Moto2 title in its debut season.
In just three years in the World Championship, MT Helmets-MSi has built an extensive record that reflects a rising trajectory of success. In 2022, it was the best private Moto3 team and Diogo Moreira was named Rookie of the Year; in 2023, it achieved its first victory; and in 2024, it has reached its first World Championship title.
Thailand Grand Prix: pole, podium… and World Championship!
Ogura only needed to finish within the top five to secure the title. However, far from settling, the Japanese rider took pole position on Saturday and was crowned champion by stepping onto the podium at the Chang International Circuit after finishing second.
MT Helmets-MSi also came very close to achieving a double podium in Thailand. In Moto3, Iván Ortolá crossed the finish line in fourth place after fighting for the win until the final corner.
